Objective
One-Blue, LLC is a company which has been established for the purpose of administering a one-stop shop licensing program for patents essential to Blu-ray Disc™ (BD) products and has expanded its licensing program to include Ultra HD Blu-ray™ (UHD) products. This one-stop shop license for BD and UHD hardware and software products covers UHD, BD, DVD and CD essential patents. The license for BD disc products covers BD essential patents, and the license for UHD disc products covers UHD essential patents.
History
The one-stop shop license concept was first announced in February 2009 by Panasonic, Philips and Sony. After several rounds of meetings with potential licensors, One-Blue, LLC was established in October 2009. One-Blue launched its licensing program in September 2011.
Investors
One-Blue is an independent licensing entity. The companies that invested in One-Blue are Cyberlink, Hitachi, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung and Sony.
Launch date
One-Blue launched the BD product licensing program on July 1st, 2011 and launched the UHD product licensing program on July 1st, 2017.
